Merriman Park Elementary Celebrates Grandparents' Day
Grandparents loved seeing the new chicken coop and feeding the MPE chickens
It was an exciting morning on September 9th when Merriman Park Elementary opened its doors for the Annual Grandparents' Day Celebration. Over 150 grandparents spent the morning with their grandchildren seeing the newly remodeled school, meeting the school's new principal and feeding the chickens in the school's Outdoor Learning Center Chicken Coop.

Principal Katie Kirkpatrick was happy to welcome these important visitors to Merriman Park. "Grandparents' Day is an important tradition at MPE. We know that students are more successful with the support of extended family, and we enjoyed getting to take time today to celebrate our awesome grandparents!"

Grandparents came from near and far to enjoy the day. Peggy Cairns came from Santa Barbara, California for the special day.

Linda Dunson loved her visit to Merriman Park. "We really had a great time. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed sharing time with our grandchildren feeding the chickens at the chicken coop and reading together in the library." Katy Jensen loved the school renovations and remarked "MPE is such a happy place."

Merriman Park Elementary enjoys a long history of parent support and involvement and to have grandparent support for our next generation is extra special too. >Top
