Back To School - First Day is Monday, August 26
The first day of school is August 26, but don't wait to enroll. Parents of students not yet enrolled should go to their attendance area school as soon as possible to register. Please check the RISD School Finder to confirm in which RISD school you reside.

Updated immunization records are required before students can begin the school year. Parents are strongly discouraged from waiting until the first day of school to obtain immunizations for their students as doing so will prevent their child from starting school.

Please bring the following with you to enroll your child:
  • Birth certificate
  • An official document (their last report card)
  • Your child's Social Security Card
  • Complete immunization records (date, month and year of every immunization received)
  • Proof of residency (water, electric or gas bill for homeowners or apartment lease with the parent's name)
  • Proof of withdrawal from your child's former school (Only if withdrawal was during the school year.)

RISD Receives Top Rating for Financial Transparency

Richardson ISD's efforts to present financial information online in a comprehensive and transparent manner have again earned the district the highest possible rating for financial transparency from Texas Comptroller Susan Combs the 2013 Gold Leadership Circle. RISD has earned the top rating each of the last four years for making key financial documents and supporting information easily available to the public via the district website.

West Nile Virus Precautions
Richardson ISD is working with local health authorities that are monitoring West Nile Virus (WNV) activity in our area.

West Nile Virus is a potentially serious illness that is most often spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. About 1 in 150 people infected with WNV will develop severe illness, and about 80 percent of people infected will show no symptoms at all. Health authorities have indicated that school age children are not included in the high risk category for developing severe West Nile illness.

RISD is taking and recommending precautions to protect students, including elimination of potential mosquito breeding and resting sites on district property, and encouraging parents to apply insect repellent to their children who might be outside during the dawn or dusk hours when mosquitoes are most active.

For more information about West Nile Virus and precautions, please visit RISD's West Nile Virus page.>Top
