Focus Accounts Available Sept. 18
RISD is continuing implementation of a new student information system called Focus. When ready, Focus will allow parents and students to view grade and attendance information online, replacing Star Portal.
On September 18, parents are expected to be able to sign up for Focus accounts through risd.org, and students will begin receiving Focus account information through their school. In the meantime, parents with questions about grades should contact their child’s teacher, while questions about attendance should be directed to the school’s front office.

Students Honored for Outstanding Leadership
Three RISD students were recently honored by The Military Order of the World Wars for being selected by their peers as outstanding participants at Southwest Youth Leadership Conferences this summer.
Congratulations to Socrates Salinas (LHHS), Preston Abadie (RHS), and Samuel Rosen (PHS).
Each student received the Bronze Patrick Henry Medal.
At its August 3 meeting, the Board heard information and viewed a preliminary site plan related to the proposed construction of an operations center on vacant district property between Abrams Road and Greenville Avenue.
The facility would provide additional functional space for support operations and consolidate a number of functions currently housed at different locations around the district, including Facility Services, Child Nutrition, Bond Project Management, Purchasing, Testing/Accountability, Textbooks, Warehouse, Print Shop, and Transportation.
