Kay Waggoner, Ph.D.
Dr. Kay Waggoner began her tenure as Richardson ISD’s superintendent on March 22, 2010. She comes to RISD after serving as superintendent of Grapevine‐ Colleyville ISD since 2004, and Red Oak ISD from 1997 to 2004.
Dr. Waggoner has worked in public education for more than 30 years, with 23 of those in administration. Prior to being named superintendent of Red Oak in 1997, she served as a classroom teacher in Nacogdoches ISD, an assistant principal in Eanes ISD, and a curriculum director and assistant superintendent in Joshua ISD.
She also has worked as an Education Specialist for the Texas Education Agency.
Dr. Waggoner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 and a Master of Education degree in 1984 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1991 in conjunction with the Cooperative Superintendency Program from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Waggoner served as president of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) in 2006‐2007, currently serves on the legislative committee, and has been a member of that organization for the past 23 years.
In addition, she is serving on the Education Leadership Coalition and on the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). |
