Luke Davis
Luke Davis was elected to the RISD Board in 2000 and is recognized as a Master Trustee by the Texas Association of School Boards. He has also served as president and treasurer during his tenure. An attorney with a Dallas law firm, he is active in a variety of community organizations, including the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, Highland Park United Methodist Church, Leadership Richardson, and Young Life.
The third generation of Davises to attend the University of North Texas and teach in Texas public schools, his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science was awarded with University Honors. He earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law with High Honors.
Kim Caston
Kim Caston was elected to the Board in 2007 and currently serves as secretary. She has served RISD in many capacities, including 5 terms as PTA president, RISD Council of PTAs, RISD Budget Review Team and as chairperson of the successful 2006 Vote Yes RISD Community Bond Campaign. Mrs. Caston has worked with the Texas PTA in legislative initiatives, and was named a "Texas Hero for Children" by the State Board of Education. Mrs. Caston is a graduate of Leadership Richardson, Class XV, a member of Northwood Woman's Club, and a youth Sunday School teacher at First United Methodist Church, Richardson.
Professionally, she worked in the beverage industry for 17 years, the last ten for Coca-Cola USA on the executive management team. In 1996, Mrs. Caston was a founding partner of Communications & Management Consulting, a consulting group that focuses on bringing best business practices to schools and districts.
Mrs. Caston is a graduate of Richardson High School, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas, and a master's degree in marketing from Louisiana State University.
Karen Ellis
Karen Ellis, elected to the Board in 1999, has served as vice president, secretary, TASB delegate. In November 2006, Ellis was elected to the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of School Boards for a three-year term, representing TASB Region 10A to the state association. She is on the executive committee of the North Texas Area Association of School Boards, and is active in both the TASB Advocacy Network and Federal Relations Network. She was designated a Master Trustee by TASB in 2001.
She is a graduate of Leadership Richardson, and recognized as Alumnus of the Year 2006. She is active in a variety of community organizations, including PTA, Richardson East Rotary Club, and The Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Ellis attended the University of North Texas, and works professionally as an Apparel Representative with Leon & Associates of Dallas. Additionally, she breeds champion papillons and performs with her husband as the musical duo, Ellis Island.
Karen Holburn
Karen Holburn was elected to the Board in 2009. She has served the RISD Community in many ways since moving here in 1995, including serving as president of the Council of PTAs, Chair of the Used Book Fair, board member of the Youth Services Council and the RISD Excellence in Education Fund, RHS area chair for the successful 2006 Vote Yes Community Bond campaign, as a board member of her neighborhood homeowners association, and is currently serving as the Board's vice president. Mrs. Holburn enjoyed many years as a Girl Scout leader and supported band, theatre, and choir booster clubs with her time and leadership. She is a graduate of Leadership Richardson Class XXIII.
Mrs. Holburn graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She worked in public relations and built her own small business as a worm farmer before entering the education field. She become a certified Montessori teacher in 1998 and has also worked as a substitute teacher for RISD. Mrs. Holburn currently works as Education Sales consultant.
Lanet Greenhaw
Lanet Greenhaw was elected to the RISD Board in 1998. She previously served in a number of positions for the RISD Council of PTAs and has worked with the District Planning Committee. Before being elected to the Board, Mrs. Greenhaw was area chairperson for the successful 1996 Vote Yes Bond Campaign. She has completed all requirements by The Texas Association of School Boards and has been designated as a Master Trustee.
In addition, she serves as an elder at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. She is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Richardson. Mrs. Greenhaw earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at Oklahoma State University and has worked as a newspaper reporter, and has extensive experience in the areas of public and media relations.
Kim Quirk
Kim Quirk is the current Board President and joined the Board in 2005. She attended Richardson schools for 12 years and graduated from J.J. Pearce High School. Mrs. Quirk has been an RISD volunteer for the past 18 years, including involvement in PTA, Destination Imagination, mentoring, arts and athletics booster club support at all levels.
Mrs. Quirk was also on the advisory board for RISD Texas Scholars, served on the District Planning Committee and Superintendent Search committee in 2004. She was on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership Committee where she was a tri-chair, the Education Committee and the Public Policy Committee. She is currently on and the board of the Collin County Community College Foundation. She has more than 25 years of experience in public relations and communications. Mrs. Quirk is Managing Director at Sunwest Communications where she provides public affairs and public relations support for clients involved in philanthropic programs promoting education. She graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, she successfully completed Leadership Dallas in 2002, Leadership Richardson in 2006 and Leadership TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) in 2008.
Kris Oliver
Kris Oliver was elected to the Board in 2010. He has served RISD in many capacities since his children entered the district in 1997, including leadership positions in the Athletic Booster Club, President of the Choir Booster Club and Chair of the Eagle Fund, and is currently serving as the Board's treasurer.. He has also served on the Board of the RISD Excellence in Education Foundation. Mr. Oliver is also actively involved with education and youth ministry at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas.
Professionally, Mr. Oliver started his career in public accounting as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Company, where he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation. He worked in a variety of finance and marketing roles at American Airlines / Sabre, leaving there as a Vice President in 2005. He currently works as a management consultant and CEO of Amen Properties, Inc., an oil and gas investment company located in Richardson.
Mr. Oliver holds a BBA in Accounting from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
