NEST-Northwood Hills Enrichment for Scientific Thinking. - Science/Math Lab

Technology- Each teacher has a computer networked to the Internet and connected to the classroom TV to use for instruction and demonstrations. Each classroom has at least two student stations that are networked.

Tribes School - A program which establishes a positive culture for learning and human development throughout our school community.

Language Labs - A comprehensive reading and listening lab that can be used by all subject areas. Teachers can monitor groups or individual students.

Updated Library-Added new books valued at more than $40,000 to the library.

National Junior Beta Club-5th and 6th graders recognized for academic excellence have opportunities for leadership and community service.

Peer Mediation-selected 3rd-6th graders are trained to mediate differences between peers.

Kids' Connection-Groups of about 10 students meet weekly for 10 weeks with 2 trained adults to work on topics from goal setting to making friends.

Band/Orchestra-6th grade students choose to be in band, orchestra or general music classes. Band and orchestra classes are taught by teachers from Westwood Junior High.

Choir-5th and 6th graders try for this choral group. They practice after school and perform several times during the year.

PALS-We have a number of adults-mostly retired-who volunteer to work one-on-one with students who need a little extra support.

PTA-The PTA is an active, integral part of the school community, and work in close conjunction with staff members.
