Academic Decathlon Team - 1st place at District meet, 4th place at Regional competition, qualified and competed at the Texas State Competition for the 5th consecutive year, 2009.

Berkner's Math Students participated in a six-contest series for the Texas Math League (Texas private and public high schools), placing 19th in the state of Texas. In District 9-5A Academic Competition with 16 schools participating, Berkner’s math team placed 3rd in Mathematics, 2nd in Calculator Applications, and 3rd in Number Sense. Berkner’s chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honor society, has a membership of 283 students for 2008-2009.

Ram Marching Band - 37 consecutive 1st Division ratings in UIL Marching contests, 1972-2008; Finalist, Bands of America Arlington Regional Championship; Finalist, Bands of America Super Regional Championship, San Antonio, 2008; Semifinalist at UIL State Marching Contest, 11th place, 2008.

Symphonic Bands - 80 members All-Region Band, 7 members All-Area Band, 5 members All-State Band, 2008; UIL Sweepstakes Award, 2009.

Varsity Cheerleaders and Mascots - 4 All-American Cheerleaders, 2006; First Place Spirit Celebrations Christmas Classic Competition, 2006; bid to NCA Nationals, 2006.

Choir - First Division (superior) ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest; 2 All-Region Choir Members and 1 Pre-Area Candidate; 12 First Division ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, 2009.

Orchestra - 34th consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards, placed 10th in the State in both the Full Orchestra and String Orchestra TMEA Honor Orchestra Competitions, "Best in Class" award at South Coast Music Festival, 26 All- Region Orchestra members, 3 All-State Orchestra members, 2009

Theatre Arts - Mainstage Productions: Steel Magnolias, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Emperor's New Clothes. Understage Theatre Productions: Laugh In, I Hate Hamlet, The Glass Menagerie, The Fourposter, The End; 9 finalists for the Quad C college auditions; Cappies Award for 2008 Best Orchestra for a musical: Anne of Green Gables, 2008-2009.

Visual Arts and Advanced Placement Studio Art - 52 visual arts students medaled at regional Visual Art Scholastic Event with 7 selected to go on to State competition, 2008. Of the Berkner students selected to go to state, 5 received state medals and 2 art students were awarded a Gold Seal Medallions for their photography and mixed media sculpture entry; RCAS winners in 1st place Freshman award and RCAS Honorable mention Senior award, 2009. Six students were accepted to the TVAA Juried Competition and Show; 3 visual art students won awards in photography, sculpture and jewelry at TVAA Juried Competition and Show, 2009.

Student Council - Student Council sponsored various school activities including Spirit Week, Homecoming Game festivities, the "February Frost" Dance, and Senior Recognition Night. Community service projects include "Adopt-a-Rocket" program for Richland Elementary School students resulting in $4,000+ from Berkner student contributions of toys and clothing and a landscaping/beautification project for Lindan Park Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Bandoleras - Regional Contest: Officer Awards - Perfect Sweepstakes, Circle of Stars, Bronze-Jazz, Silver-Lyrical, Gold-Modern, Technique Award, Precision Award, Showmanship Award, Choreography-Modern; Team Awards-- Best in Contest, Perfect Sweepstakes, Circle of Stars, Gold-Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern, Entertainment, Technique and Precision Awards, Choreography Awards-Modern and Hip Hop Five Star Award, Kickline and Dance Team, Silver Awards, Choreography-Dance Team, Techniques Awards, Best In Class-Bronze; Hawaii National Competition: Officer Awards--Best In Class, Line of Champions Runner-Up, Showmanship, Choreography and Precision in all three pieces, Entertainment- Modern, Technique-Jazz and Modern, Best in Category-Jazz and Modern; Team Awards: Best In Class, Line of Champions Winner, Judges Award, Showmanship and Choreography- Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Kick, Technique and Precision- Jazz and Modern, Best In Category Jazz, Modern and Hip Hop, Dance Team Division I, 2008, 2009.
