TEA Grants Appeals – All Schools in RISD are Recognized or Exemplary |

RISD was informed this week of the Texas Educations Agency’s decisions regarding two accountability rating appeals filed in August.
In August, it was announced that Lake Highlands High School had earned a Recognized rating based on academic achievement, but received an Acceptable rating because two students in the “completion rate” (similar to dropout) portion of the rating formula were mis-categorized. RISD appealed the Acceptable rating based on updated information regarding the students’ location after they departed LHHS, and this week, TEA agreed.
This successful appeal raises Lake Highlands High School’s 2009 accountability rating to Recognized, which means that every ratings-eligible campus in RISD is now Recognized or Exemplary.
Likewise, in August, Audelia Creek Elementary received a Recognized rating from the state, falling one student shy of Exemplary due to what RISD felt was a recordkeeping error. After considering their records, TEA agreed and ACE’s 2009 rating was raised to Exemplary.
