MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 - STUDENT HOLIDAY
A reminder students will not be in attendance on Monday, September 25. This scheduled Professional Development day for staff is necessary for effective teaching and assessment of students. For professional development to be effective it must be meaningful and timely and address specific needs. Now that teachers have spent six weeks with students, they know what those needs are and this day assists with planning relevant ways to address them.

On Monday, district elementary classroom teachers will be involved in learning new math curriculum and support technology; science strategies; strategies for working with second language learners, and how to integrate specific-leveled readers with social studies. Secondary teachers will focus on their specific content area sharing “best practices” and new instructional strategies. In addition, special area teachers will be learning about a new crisis management program, technology integration, instrumental and choral music, physical education and art strategies.

Having this time for this additional staff training will only enhance our students learning experience. Have a great weekend! Classes will resume their normal schedules on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
