As Northlake Elementary kicked off "The Hero Within You" theme for 2011-12, staff and students chose to honor U.S. Army Sgt. Hudson as NLE's first Hero of the Year. Sgt. Hudson is the son of NLE librarian Cathryn Bolen. Deployed for the past year, the staff and students raised funds for care packages for his unit. A schoolwide celebration was recently held to welcome him back home. >Top

RISD's Arapaho Classical Magnet will receive $3,000 through a Fuel Up To Play 60 grant program, sponsored by Dairy Max and the National Football League.

ACM was one of seven schools in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area to receive the fall grant. The grant is used to implement healthy eating and fitness programs in schools.

Each week during football season, the Eaglette Dance Officers choose one team member as the "Outstanding Girl," and the Eaglette Social Officers choose one team member as "Spirit Girl." The honorees are chosen for their hard work and positive attitude during the week's practices and are announced at the beginning of the game's halftime show. >Top
