WHAT MAKES A GOOD SUPERINTENDENT?

Please plan to attend one of four Public Forums to share your opinions of what background and characteristics you believe the RISD Board of Trustees should consider as they move forward with the process of selecting a new superintendent for the district.

The Board, in conjunction with the selection firm of Harold Webb Associates, is currently compiling a profile to be used to assist in identifying candidates. These forums will be an excellent opportunity for district residents, employees, parents, students, volunteers and partners to be involved in the process.

There are four forums scheduled, one in each quadrant of RISD:

Thursday, July 27 Pearce High School
1600 N. Coit Rd.
Richardson, TX 75080
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Library
Tuesday, August 1 Berkner High School
1600 E. Spring Valley Rd.
Richardson, TX 75081
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Library
Thursday, August 3 Richardson High School
1250 W. Belt Line Rd.
Richardson, TX 75080
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 8 Lake Highlands High School
9449 Church Rd.
Dallas, TX 75238
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Those unable to attend in person may still provide input by returning a Profile Assessment Form to the selection firm.  Forms may be downloaded from www.risd.org beginning the week of July 24, and should be mailed directly to the selection firm (address is on the form).

Profile Assessment Forms will also be available at all four forums.

The Board is conducting this nationwide search for a successor to outgoing superintendent Jim Nelson, who will be the new Executive Director of AVID, a national, non-profit education organization in California.  Applications for the vacancy will be accepted by the selection firm through September 15.
