RISD has named Ms. Celina Cárdenas as the District Community Liaison, effective June 26. In her position, Ms. Cárdenas will be primarily responsible for RISD’s Partners Program and serve as a liaison for the district with business, volunteer, community and citizen groups.
Ms. Cárdenas comes to the Communications Department from Berkner High School, where she served as a Spanish instructor and coach. She has been a mentor teacher, curriculum leader and founded
Hispanic Roots, a popular Berkner student organization.
“We are thrilled to have Celina on board in this position,” said Interim Superintendent Patti Kieker. “Her energy and passion will be an asset to RISD as we continue to reach out to all segments of our community.”
Ms. Cárdenas has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Trinity University in San Antonio.
She is replacing outgoing District Community Liaison Lani Caffey, who is pursuing a teaching opportunity.
