POWER OUT AT LHHS
Due to a TXU transformer problem near Lake Highlands High School, the school will dismiss at 10 o’clock today. Buses will run normal routes at 10 a.m. TXU says power should be restored by Thursday.
LHHS MUFFINS

As you have probably seen on the news, someone brought tainted muffins to the Lake Highlands High School staff lounge early yesterday morning. Eighteen staff members were taken to the hospital with symptoms of nausea, lightheadedness, presumably from eating the muffins. All but one staff member was released yesterday, and several are back at work today.

The school district is cooperating with the Dallas Police Department and the FBI in the investigation. Kudos to the LHHS staff who remained professional and followed disaster procedures. The students were calm, and were kept in the loop about the status of the situation. The staff and students represented their school and community well.

SCHOOL BOND 2006
Thank you for your support with School Bond 2006. It passed last Saturday with a vote of 76% in favor. Superintendent Nelson said, “We are pleased that the community overwhelmingly continues to support their public schools. Work will begin immediately to fulfill the promises of Bond 2006.”
TEXAS LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
On Monday, May 15, the Texas Legislature finished their new school finance/property tax reduction plan. The district is preparing a statement on how the new state finance laws will affect the district and you as a homeowner. It is hoped that it will be ready for publication by the end of the week.
