Pearce Tennis State Champions – Twice as Nice!
The Pearce Mustang Tennis team had an outstanding display of talent, heart and all out skills this week in Austin at the 4A State Tennis Championships. The mixed doubles team of Jonny & Hannah Kelley, twins and seniors at Pearce became the 4A State Champions in their third trip to state. Their final match was dramatic, winning both sets in tiebreakers.

In men’s doubles, sophomore Kyle Plum & Tam Trinh teamed up to bring home another State Championship for Pearce in their first trip to state.

RHS Baseball - next stop playoffs!
Congratulations to the RHS Eagle Baseball team for making the playoffs for the first time in 31 years after beating Carrollton Creekview 5-2 Tuesday night.

They play again Saturday at noon at RHS vs Rowlett. >Top
PHS Golf state Champs
The Pearce High School golf team won the State 4-A Golf Championship this week in Austin, beating defending champion Highland Park by 13 strokes. Key contributors to the win were Hunter Brown, Charlie Gibson, Connor Ligon, Brad Lyle and Cade Storey. “We believed in ourselves and knew we could do it. I’m so proud of our Pearce Mustang golfers,” said coach Jeremy O'Quinn.

RISD Excellence in Education Foundation Announces 2009 Scholarship Recipients
The RISD Excellence in Education Foundation has announced their 2009 Scholarship Recipients, which include students from all four RISD high schools.

“We work all year to provide these scholarships to deserving students in RISD,” said Elizabeth Hart, President & CEO. We consistently and with pleasure look for funding to make it possible for students to attend college. They are our future. We need to invest in them!”

The 2009 recipients include:

The A.M. Anderson National Honor Society Scholarship was awarded to Samuel Haile from Lake Highlands High School.

The Thompson Family Scholarship for the Study of Science and/or Engineering was awarded to Jason Ruth of Richardson High School.

The Dr. Carolyn G. Bukhair AVID Scholarship was awarded to Weldai Beilul of Berkner High School.

The Katie Richards Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ghianda Becerril and Chase Faldmo of Pearce High School.

The Giana Foundation Scholarship Fund for the Visual & Performing Arts honors two graduating seniors from Richardson High School: Katherine Dedman and Jacqueline Slanley; and two more from Pearce High School: Shelby Button and Brett Thiele.

DOVER to CELEBRATES 50TH
On May 21, 2009 - Dover Elementary will celebrate its 50th Anniversary. Students and staff will have several activities during the day, and the public is invited to the evening program beginning at 6:00 p.m.

At 7:00 p.m. an open house will begin for visits of classrooms, etc., including student group performances in the gym.
