The RISD Excellence in Education Foundation held its annual Evening of Honors Friday to recognize exceptional teachers, administrators, community leaders and outstanding RISD alumni in the field of literature.
More than 320 people attended the banquet, which included a keynote address from former judge, award-winning journalist, noted author and Richardson High School alumnae, Catherine Crier. Other celebrity guests included former journalist and Pearce High School alumnae Catherine Cuellar, published authors and Lake Highlands High School graduates Nancy Barry and Cindy Causey; and current Berkner High School AP English teacher and published author Robert Davis.
“We truly appreciate the support of everyone involved, including the RISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Waggoner, staff members and building principals.” said Elizabeth Hart, the Excellence in Education Foundation's President and CEO. “Participation in the Foundation by district and campus leaders sets an outstanding example for our employees, parents and community that enrichment and support of teachers and students are a priority in RISD. I’d like to extend a special thanks to our celebrity alumni who attended – they are an inspiration to our current students and an example of what is possible.”
