Summary of Services School Nurse | District Audiologist | Health Aide 1) Provides health assessments and interventions for students and staff who become ill or have an injury. 2) Screens and evaluates findings in vision, hearing, and scoliosis. Also, a risk assessment for Type 2 diabetes is done by screening for acanthosis nigricans. Makes appropriate referrals to health care providers. 3) Provides pediatric procedures: gastrostomy feedings, tracheostomy care, catheterizations, ventilation treatments. 4) Provides case management and education of students with chronic illness: diabetes, asthma, ADD/ADHD. 5) Administers medications to students according to medication policy. 6) Interprets the health status of pupils to parents and school personnel and coordinates information with physicians and other health resources. 7) Provides health education to students, staff, and parents. 8) Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases through preventive immunization programs, early detection, surveillance, reporting and follow-up of communicable diseases. 9) Provides leadership and support for staff wellness activities, including nutrition and health counseling. 10) Provides individual counseling with students and staff. 1) Provides screenings to evaluate hearing deficits. 2) Provides referral and follow-up, including complete audiological testing. 3) Provides consultative services to school, staff, and parents regarding placement decisions and accommodations to assist students in the classroom to enhance learning. 1) Provides support to all health services staff and activities. 2) Provides first aid clinic care and administers medications. 3) Monitors immunization compliance and provides data entry. 3) Assists the audiologist and school nurse with screening programs
