Benefits
The Richardson Independent School District is pleased to make the following benefits programs available to eligible employees:
Medical Coverage - Highlights
RISD offers TRS ActiveCare medical coverage. The plan offers four PPO options and is administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and Medco. For example, TRS Active Care 2 offers a comprehensive level of benefits with a $500 individual deductible and $25 copay for primary care physicians and $35 for specialists.
TRS-ActiveCare assists employees and their families in case of illness or injury. The plan covers many health care needs, including preventive care and physician office visits, inpatient and outpatient services, behavioral health, prescription drugs, and more. More than 85 percent of all doctors and hospitals throughout the nation contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
Eligible new hires may choose to have their medical effective either on their first day of employment, or the first of the month following their hire date.
Dental Coverage - Highlights
Two dental programs are available. One allows freedom of choice to select a dentist with specific levels of reimbursement for procedures. The second allows selection of a dentist from a network with lower premiums and reduced co-pays for procedures performed.
Supplemental Benefits
Life
RISD provides a $10,000 basic term life policy to all eligible employees at no cost, and access to group supplemental term life coverage to address employees’ specific needs.
Disability
Members have access to group short- and long-term disability insurance programs to replace portions of income in the event of a disability.
Flexible Benefit Plan
Eligible employees may participate in the district’s flexible benefit plan. The Health Care Flexible Spending and the DependentDay Care Flexible Spending Account give participants a way to pay for these expenses with tax free dollars.
Retirement and Investment Plan
The district offers two retirement plan options, a 403(b) plan and a 457(b) Retirement Savings Plan. Both voluntary savings programs serve as a way for employees to save funds for retirement and other long-term financial needs. Payroll deductions can be contributed to the plans on a tax-deferred basis. This reduces current income tax and allows the money in the plans to grow untaxed until money is disbursed to the participant.
RISD Sick Leave Bank
Employees may join the RISD Sick Leave Bank, which provides additional sick days to members in the event of a serious extended illness, surgery, or temporary disability due to an illness.
Employee Assistance Program
RISD provides all eligible employees and their family members access to confidential, professional counseling services to assist with various emotional and/or mental health issues at no cost.
In addition to the counseling benefit, this program offers legal and financial assistance. |
